Group Class Update - April 2017
April was a great month for all of our group music classes. See some of our class activities from the month of April in our Group Class Update slideshow.
Kelly Kirby Preparatory Class - Brenda Lam
Students are doing well with the class routine, playing Solfege (do re mi) games and working on rhythm and retention with the Kodaly Rhythm Syllable system (ta ti ti). It is wonderful to see how returning students are modeling for new students.
Kelly Kirby Preparatory Class - Soo Min Kim
Students have been engaged in many activities involving ear training and body movements to the music. Students are becoming more comfortable in the new environment, and are developing the skills that will be very useful in future private instrument lessons!
Stewart Hope - Group Guitar Class:
This month we learned notes on strings one, two and three. We also learned some new chords and how to read a chord chart. In the coming weeks, we will begin to apply these skills to learning how to play along to songs such as 'Hey Jude' and 'Yellow Submarine.' New techniques for next month will include: how to read TAB, and finger picking.
Beginner Group Guitar Class - Stewart Hope
The group drum class has now been introduced to the basics of drumming: the Rudiments, and how to practice them on their practice pads. We have begun to translate the basics to the drum set now, and will start playing along with songs soon. Next month we will start learning about Jazz music, and how to play a swing beat!
