    Each artist has a story to tell, and when we discover their journey into creativity, we discover different ways in which we can interpret and make art ourselves. In this class students will delve into the artists we all know and love, finding out what drove them to become some of the most loved artists of all time!

  • Often related to street dancing, hip hop is an upbeat, fun style that can be taken by dancers of all ages! The term hip hop is a broader term that encompasses styles such as popping, locking, and breaking. Our hip hop instructor will be encouraging all of the students in these exciting classes to develop new skills, and learn how to express themselves through popular music and getting into the groove!

  • Our jazz dance classes teach a genre of dance that developed alongside the jazz music movement in the early 20th century. Students learn proper warm up techniques that involve stretching for flexibility, core strengthening, balance, and more. They are taught the joy of jumping and turning, kicking and hitting the pose!

  • Our tap dance classes support each student’s development of great technique, rhythm, and creative choreography. Students gradually learn to listen to and create music, with their feet as their instruments! This is a class where students are encouraged to make noise, while also learning about specific elements of tap technique such as “shading” and keeping a beat.   • DROP-IN ANYTIME between 9:30-12:30pm. This full year class pass allows for 40 hours of studio time to be used however you see fit throughout the school year. Students will be introduced to a variety of drawing tools and techniques to build on their personal skill set and gain confidence as a young artist. In this class, students will work one on one with the instructor to tailor their studio time to their interests and ability.

    OPEN STUDIO is a concept that is tailored to each student. Families have the option of attending a meet and greet with the teachers to determine student interests and goals and what vision they have for their open studio time. Each class will be set up to include three general stations to allow students to work with a variety of tools and mediums.

    1. Fundamental Drawing/Illustration Station
    2. 3D Art and Sculpting Station
    3. Make a large scale painting on canvas, or a body of smaller works on canvas

    Students may move freely through each station, and will have sketchbooks for solo sketching or for use to plan their projects, large and small. This class is focused on exploratory time, giving students the space to discover what elements of art they are most interested in and further developing those interests into something more substantial. There will be a mix of short and long-term personal art projects based on each student’s goals and objectives.

    If your child is enrolled in other Arts Connection activities, we can transport them to our Open Studio.
